A powerful and popular entertainer, Christian “Big New York” de Mesones has been playing bass guitar for decades. Audiences delight in his signature, flavorful sound that fuses funk, R&B, jazz, rock, and Latin elements. He has performed to record-breaking crowds as opening acts for artists like Marion Meadows, Chuck Brown, and Roberta Flack. His smooth jazz band, Groove Skool, played prestigious gigs such as Capital Jazz Fest and Blues Alley, again drawing standing room-only crowds. de Mesones has released several high-charting singles, including “Spirit” in 2018. The song hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and won the Grammy Award in 1993 for "Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal” as well as a "Best Song" Oscar in the same year.

Bassist, composer, and band leader Christian "Big New York" de Mesones returns to the Carlyle Club with "A Smooth Funky Evening with Big New York & the Smooth Jazz All-Starz", bringing his unique brand of Latin- and Funk-infused smooth jazz and a stellar lineup.
